Happiness
“What makes us happy and what increases happiness is contact with light. The experience of light in a very pure form, if not the purest form, always creates happiness. As you have experiences with the inner light, which are gained through the practice of meditation and Buddhism, it immediately delights you.”
Personal Happiness: The Path to True Joy
Happiness is elusive for many, yet it is the essence of life. Most people rely on external circumstances—possessions, achievements, or relationships—to feel happy, but such happiness is fleeting and often leads to fear of loss. True happiness lies in light—the endless, inner radiance of self-discovery and enlightenment.
The human operating system of desire and aversion creates a cycle of fleeting pleasure and persistent frustration. In contrast, the light, accessed through meditation, offers pure and unchanging happiness. This light, the clear light of reality, is infinite and immeasurable. Each encounter with it during meditation transforms and fills us with enduring joy.
Meditation is the key to breaking free from dependence on external conditions. By quieting the mind and connecting with the light, we find a happiness that is unaffected by life’s challenges. It enables us to rise above fear, pain, and attachment. In the planes of light, our self-destructive tendencies dissolve, and we see life clearly for what it is, with wonder and joy.
Happiness requires no external validation or perfect circumstances. It is cultivated daily through meditation and mindfulness. Morning meditation fills us with light for the day; evening meditation clears the debris of life’s distractions. This cycle of practice fosters a deep and lasting happiness, free from the constraints of the physical world.
True happiness is not dependent on fortune or success—it is a state of being, a connection to the infinite light within. By meditating and aligning with this light, we can experience life with equanimity, strength, and an inner smile, no matter what comes our way.

“Within the universe there is pure light. It's a light that is beyond all darkness and it does not give way to anything. It is the light of existence. It's the clear light of reality, the dharmakaya.”
